Masala vada curry

                                 
Grinded chickpeas

Ingredients-
Bengal gram/gram flour/chana dal-1cup
Chopped green chili-2
Chopeded onion- 1 large
Chopeded tomato-1 large
Chopeded ginger-2 tablespoon
Garlic paste-2 tablespoon
Cloves-3
Cardamom -3 to 4
Bay leaf-2
Cinnamon- 1/2 inch
Red chilli powder-1/2 tablespoon
Turmeric powder-1/2 tablespoon
Cumin powder -1 tablespoon
Black pepper-1/2 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Oil for cooking
Method-

  • Clean and wash chana Dal through running water.
  • Soak chana dal for 3 to 4 hours or overnight
  • Drain it from water.
  • Grind chana dal coarsely in mixer with help of a little  bit of water.
  • Do not use excess water to grind it.
  • Batter consistency should  not be  watery.
  • Take a bowl add grinded chana dal,chopped green chilli,chopped ginger,garlic paste,red chilli powder,turmeric powder, asafoetida and salt and mix it.
  • Heat oil in kadahi,take a tablespoon batter and put in hot oil and fry until vada  gets golden brown.you can fry 4 to 5 vada simultaneously​.
  • Drain it from oil.
  • Heat oil in kadahi add bay leaf ,cinnamon ,clove,cardamom,cumin seeds.Let them crackle then add chopped onion and stir until it get golden brown. Further add ginger garlic paste,chopped tomatoes and saute until it gets soft .
  • Add cumin powder,coriander powder,
  • red chilli powder,turmeric powder,black pepper powder,salt and a little bit of water and saute until oil start to separate from spices and  further add required water in it and boil it for 2 minutes then add  vada  and simmer it for few minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander.
  • Serve hot with chapati.
